This growth has been fueled by the substantial growth of information technology all over the nation . The draft "Blueprint for Technology-Based Economic Growth in Urban America " unveiled on January 2 1980 underlines the importance of this. However, as the "Blueprint" distinctly communicates, "if significant investments in its capacity to grow and support this sector are not made, its success will be short lived." Another significant challenge facing the Urban community is not fully addressed in the Blueprint is that of local disparities across the global with regard to technology-based economic spine for the immediate future. However, it is extremely important that Urban America participate in the economic shift to technology-based and high performance industries.
