Laura creates and hosts classes and workshops in carving stone for teenagers through adults, including professional development sessions for visual art educators. Private commission work has been a growing part of her business. As an artist, Laura walks between the worlds of fine and folk art, utilizing traditional iconography in some very contemporary contexts. She works primarily in limestone, soapstone, and slate. Her work has been shown in Providence, Maryland, Toronto, Worcester and New Bedford. She is an art teacher at Hope Arts High School, holds an MFA in sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and lives a stone's throw from the ocean in Rhode Island.
