Heartland Brewery Group

When Heartland Brewery opened New York’s first American-style brewpub on Union Square in 1995, our city was not the hotbed of brewpubs, beer bars, and evolved beer drinking it is today. Heartland quickly established itself as a pioneer of the craft beer movement in New York City. Since then, Heartland has consistently brewed New York’s freshest craft beers, including six classic brews and a wide range of seasonal ones. Brewers at Heartland assemble a variety of distinctly American ingredients to create Heartland’s beer recipes. Heartland’s beers taste different than beers from Germany and Britain because they are made from indigenous ingredients such as Wisconsin malt, hops from Washington and Oregon, and American yeast. All beers are served at their freshest within one to two weeks of brewing. That’s what we at Heartland call “Real Beer.” It did not take long for the Heartland’s brewing techniques to be recognized. Heartland’s Farmer Jon’s Oatmeal Stout won a bronze medal at the prestigious Annual Great American Beer Festival in Colorado in 1995 and a gold medal in 1997. At the 2017 Taste of NY Governor’s Cup the Old Red Nose Ale Special Edition won a gold medal. The restaurant’s wellprepared food and carefully designed, homey setting won accolades as well. Heartland was named Best Brewpub by New York magazine in 1996 and 1997. Since then, Heartland has grown into the largest group of brewpubs in the region. To: All present and former Heartland Brewery & affiliate employees: As most of you know, we have recently terminated several managers for a variety of reasons. We have also recently discovered the theft of gratuities at Houston Hall, have terminated the individuals thought to have stolen these party tips, and we are in the process of cutting checks to each employee who worked party shifts and were impacted by the stolen gratuities. These payments will reimburse all tipped service staffers working events. This theft occurred exclusively at Houston Hall and no other Heartland properties. We have conducted an exhaustive investigation into wage and tip adherence to federal rules and regulations at all other Heartland properties and have found no impropriety. The Houston Hall employee’s checks will be available at Houston Hall later today. If you have any concerns about wages or wrongdoing of any kind at your restaurant, contact : COO: Rich Pietromonaco Rich@heartlandbrewery.com or me Jon@heartlandbrewery.com Heartland Brewery Group is a growing Manhattan-based restaurant group composed of 10 restaurants (3 brands).
