Society of Managerial Engineering (SME)

sme.epfl.ch

The SME is the student association of EPFL's master of Management, Technology & Entrepreneurship (MTE) and the local group of the European Association of Industrial Engineering and Management (ESTIEM). >> The SME Creates Opportunities: A person's success is due to complementary skills, experiences and networking. For this reason, three different types of events are organised by the SME in order to provide the EPFL and MTE community with all the tools required for future professional and personal success. >> Entrepreneurship Events: Switzerland ranks second in the Global Entrepreneurship Index Ranking according to the GEDI (Global Entrepreneurship And Development Institute). Like Switzerland, entrepreneurship is part of our association's DNA. Therefore, entrepreneurship activities such as Startup Weekends and Entrepreneurship Round-Tables are organised regularly by SME. >> Personal & Profesional Events: Personal development is now known to be critical to one's success. Therefore SME provides the EPFL community with the opportunity to take a closer look within themselves today in order to create strong leaders tomorrow by organising personal development activities. Professional development activities, such as company visits, are also organised in order to open students' eyes on potential industries and jobs they could work in after their studies. >> MTE Team-Building Because SME remains the associations of the Master of Management, Technology & Entrepreneurship at EPFL, great effort is made in order to create a cohesion within MTE students. Events such as ALUMNI evenings are also organised in order to bring together current student and ALUMNIs. >> ESTIEM ESTIEM is an organisation for European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management. Since 2015, the SME coordinates ESTIEM in Lausanne, joining 80 local groups in more than 31 countries and offering our members the possibility to actively participate to more than 180 ESTIEM events every year all around Europe about broad topics such as entrepreneurship, personal development and lean six sigma.
