The Montessori School Rochester is an Authentic Montessori School. Offering an alternative child-centered educational program for children ages 2 months to 15 years old. INFANT, TODDLER, PRESCHOOL, KINDERGARTEN Our infant program (6 weeks – 18 months) provides infants with a safe, rich world full of opportunities for active exploration and enjoyment through the senses; hearing, feeling, touching and moving. Our toddler program (18 months – 3 years) offers a carefully planned space to promote exploration, independence, order and yet freedom of choice / movement. Toddlers here enjoy practical life, aids to independence, manipulative and language exercises as well as peace, music and art lessons and abundant outdoor exploration time. Our primary program (3 years – 5 years) offers a full Montessori curriculum with beautiful Montessori materials. Here the children learn through hands on experience and creative exploration. Younger children observe and interact with the older children. In turn kindergartners serve as role models and teachers, learning responsibility and leadership skills. The materials are grouped into: Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, Geography and Science. Art, Music and Foreign Language are immersed within the entire curriculum daily. Our elementary program (1st – 6th grade) provides an expansive education, giving children lessons and questions to guide their explorations of culture, science, mathematics, language and social rules and morals. Children work with concrete materials to explore academic areas, quickly discovering abstract methods to utilize. Critical thinking, problem solving and independent research are emphasized. The role of the teacher in all our classrooms is as observer and guide, facilitating children to discover and develop their own talents and potential, foster a love of learning and an ability to learn.
