The Centre for Studies in Primary Care (CSPC) acts as the research arm of the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. the CSPC provides research development and support, directs the resident research-teaching program, convenes Primary Care Research Day, and helps to build capacity in primary care research by providing an environment that supports research training and academic excellence. The CSPC’s research activities are in areas relevant to the practice of primary health care, primary care chronic disease surveillance, health services research, population health, health promotion, use of electronic medical records, family medicine education research, program evaluation and evidence assessment for clinical practice. The primary research portfolios held by the CSPC include educational research, community and program evaluation, intellectual and developmental disabilities, global health, and the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN).
