Southern Fried Hockey was setup in a blog format in August 2008, before subsequently evolving into a news website in December 2009. Working in tandem with the superb Irish Hockey Photographers, it aims to provide up-to-date stories and match reports for everything to do with Munster and Irish hockey, as well as interviews with the game’s movers and shakers and features on the big questions within the sport. In 2011, Andrew Gray came on board as head coach to help expand the SFH remit to include children’s camps, instructional videos and a clothing range. The Munster Branch of the Irish Hockey Association (MBIHA), awarded the site’s founder Alan Good a special merit prize in 2009, in recognition of Southern Fried Hockey’s contribution to the sport in the province.
