The Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation (HLTC) is a private non-profit corporation operating under Section 501 C-3 of the IRS Code that was created to purchase, preserve, and restore the 1927 Lansdowne Theater. The reopening of the theater is the keystone of the effort to spur community and economic development in Lansdowne’s central business district and the surrounding neighborhoods. The historic single-screen movie theater will be adaptively reused as a regional concert venue. The theater will be programmed by one of the Philadelphia region’s leading independent concert promoters with the HLTC retaining ownership of the building. The HLTC has raised just shy of the $16.5M project for the development project budget. The HLTC’s capital stack includes a $4M grant through the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, $2M from the Delaware County allotment of American Rescue Plan Act funds, and $1.5M in a federal earmark sponsored by U.S. Senator Bob Casey and Representative Mary Gay Scanlon. The project is generously supported by Delaware County Council and the Delaware County Office of Housing and Community Development with funding from its Community Development Block Grant Program, the National Endowment for the Arts, PA Historical and Museum Commission; National Trust for Historic Preservation; Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Memorial Fund; and Philadelphia, Dapplecroft, The Presser, Broughton foundations; Borough of Lansdowne; and hundreds of gifts from individuals. The capital stack includes federal historic tax credits. Led by the architectural firm Atkin Olshin Schade, the design team has completed all phases of design. The design team includes H. Gilroy Damon Associates (civil engineering), Bruce E. Brooks & Associates (mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical engineering), Keast & Hood Structural Engineers (structural engineering), and Accentech (audio visual and acoustics). The financial consultant for the project is JNA Capital.
