The Graham Layton Trust (GLT) is the UK fundraising arm for LRBT Pakistan. LRBT Pakistan provide free ophthalmic care to over 2.2 million patients per year in over 40 facilities in Pakistan’s cities and rural areas. LRBT is internally renowned for its state of the art techniques and equipment as well as ophthalmic expertise and specialisms. LRBT is often able to provide a better service than government and private hospitals with many patients being referred on after other hospitals exhaust their own expertise. LRBT is responsible for 30% of all eye surgery in Pakistan and is contributing significantly to Pakistan’s decline in blindness caused by curable diseases. 80% of blind people in Pakistan can be cured however the two-thirds of Pakistanis cannot afford treatment. GLT is the sole funder the intra ocular lenses used in over 150,000 operations per year.
