By selling our WHĀNAU treats by the gram at our market stalls, we have aimed to show people that when it comes to food, simple and healthy can be just as tasty. We've been really encouraged by the positive responses (thank you!) But we have also been working behind the scenes to build a business around a broader mission - to help change the way food is distributed in our cities. We want people to have easier access to more of the foods that are good for us. For many people, convenience is considered to be the most important factor when shopping for food. But unfortunately, this convenience often comes at the expense of health. Our vision is for the most convenient food choices to become the best ones too. We are looking to create partnerships with corner stores and farmers, and to build and implement technologies to enable a new kind of customer experience. It is about increasing the demand for ecologically-responsible fresh produce in our cities (since ultimately, we can't be healthy unless the food we eat is too).
