Where once 8.000 cigarettes churned out per minute and machine, now creative sparks light minds. At present, the 70.000 m2 wide, shut down tobacco plant of Austria Tabak, the former tobacco monopole, emerges as an urban centre for cultural and creative industries and as an collaborative group of companies. In its redesign the revitalized industrial building, hub for contemporary technologies, creative industries, digitalisation, innovation and start-ups, does not define as a conventional museum or venue. Rather, it is seen as a workbench, stage, laboratory, rehearsal room and ultimately, fabricating quarter.
