Whalesong Conversations provides friendly phone and video calls to seniors who are looking for additional social connection. Studies show that strong social connection has significant and positive impacts on both mental and physical health–it has even been shown to increase lifespan. However, older people commonly face barriers to connecting with others, including social and physical isolation due to illness, mobility challenges or impaired vision and hearing. I noticed this with my own grandma, which is why I started Whalesong Conversations. I offer friendly phone and video calls to seniors who feel lonely, are isolated or would simply like more conversation in their day.
