www.ccsp.ox.ac.ukThe Contemporary China Studies Programme (CCSP) is part of the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies at the University of Oxford. Since its founding in 2002 with a generous grant from the Leverhulme Trust, the CCSP has offered a vibrant focal point for study and research on the full spectrum of subjects concerning contemporary China and Chinese society. The CCSP brings together expertise and scholarship on China from across the social sciences, including economics, politics, international relations, sociology, anthropology and Chinese history. The Director of the CCSP is Dr. Rachel Murphy, a recognised authority on the sociology of China. Other academic staff working directly for the programme include Dr. Paul Irwin Crookes, an expert on China’s international relations; Dr. Kyle Jaros, who specialises in the political economy of China; Dr. Anna Lora-Wainwright who has made significant contributions to the study of human geography of China and on China’s environment policies; and Dr. Patricia Thornton, an expert on the politics of China. The CCSP offers four courses: - DPhil in Area Studies, a full-time three year programme of doctoral study. - MPhil Modern Chinese Studies, a two-year master's degree programme offered jointly by the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies which combines intensive study of the Chinese language with thorough training in the study of modern China. - MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies, a three-term, twelve-month course designed to provide high quality graduate research training with an emphasis on an appreciation of research methods and on deepening your understanding of contemporary China. - Oxford 1+1 MBA, a unique, two-year postgraduate experience which offers you the opportunity to combine the depth of our specialised, one-year MSc with the breadth of Saïd Business School’s top-ranking, one-year MBA.
