EcoViva
www.ecoviva.orgEcoViva supports community-led social movements in Central America implementing innovative solutions to poverty, environmental degradation, and climate change. The vision and implementation of our programs come from our local partners. Our principal area of focus is the Lower Lempa region of El Salvador, and we have a budding partnership with a group in Honduras. In El Salvador, we work closely with the Mangrove Association, a network of approximately 100 communities living in and around the Bay of Jiquilisco Biosphere Reserve. The Bay of Jiquilisco is the largest intact mangrove forest ecosystem left in Central America. With our financial and technical support, our local partners are implementing a wide variety of locally-led community development initiatives, including environmental conservation, economic development, youth empowerment, drinking water, infrastructure, and disaster prevention programs. Our Community Empowerment Tours program offers individuals, university groups, professionals, and congregations the opportunity to travel to El Salvador to learn about and participate in effective, locally-led community development initiatives amidst the beauty of the Bay of Jiquilisco Biosphere Reserve. We work with universities and community groups all over the United States to help them maintain a direct relationship with our partner communities in El Salvador.
