Rivers LPC is a small charity based in Crawley, West Sussex. Rivers LPC works towards empowering women to take up new challenges in life. The charity supports women who are socially excluded, not able to find assistance from other organisations or need help without the involvement of formal authorities. Rivers LPC works in partnership with other voluntary organisations which support women. There are also opportunities for charities, organisations and educational institutions to meet and work with the women in the project. The project is run by mentors (volunteers) for the sole benefit of the women of Crawley. The charity has two programmes, the Learning Programme and the SPACE Programme. The Learning Programme pursues learning, further education and enhanced skills for women, as well as relaying information on employment related advice. The support includes assistance in working towards inclusion to society, overcoming barriers to obtain secure or more economic employment and opportunities to participate in the local community. Our main instruments are the weekly sessions, one off sessions (pre-booked) and drop-in sessions. We also hold workshops to discuss the issues relating to women in the community. Rivers LPC also work with women organisations looking to offer training, awareness courses and opportunities for the women in Crawley.
