D3C's goal is to identify the future mobile connectivity needs (both industry and regulatory driven) of driver-less vehicles (cars/trucks/trains) and put forward proposals offering unprecedented bandwidth and latency. To achieve this, D3C prioritizes mobile connectivity solutions using areas of the spectrum which are little used today, namely the light spectrum rather than the heavily congested RF spectrum. We aim to develop a global standard for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication using visible / Infra-red / laser light.
