Manheim Fire Department

www.manheimfire.com

Chartered as The Hope Fire and Engine Company Number 1 of Manheim in 1812, we are nearing our 200th year of serving the Manheim community. Our firefighters protect the lives and property of the residences and businesses in Manheim Borough and parts of Penn Township and Rapho Township. We also provide mutual aid assistance to many nearby communities. We are consistently one of the ten busiest volunteer fire departments in Lancaster County, averaging approximately 450 incidents per year. We protect approximately 25 square miles, which includes a population of 12,000. We currently have about 35 active firefighters and fire police officers. We operate out of one fire station, located on Route 72 in Manheim Borough. We utilize 7 pieces of apparatus, which includes a 2004 Pierce Engine, a 2010 Pierce Rescue, a 2001 American LaFrance Ladder Truck, a 1990 Autocar Tanker, a 1995 Ford Squad Truck and two - 2008 Ford Expeditions, used by our Fire Chief and Duty Officer. Presently we rely on the financial support of our community through donations and fund raising efforts. We are not funded in any part by a municipal tax; the three municipalities that we serve all make donations to our fire department from their general operating budget.
