Black Funding Network (BFN) is a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee. We aim to help galvanise Black* giving in order to contribute to self-sustenance for Britain’s Black communities by helping Black-led non-profit organisations access a generous community of donors that exists in Britain who want to be intentional in their giving. We hope to leverage the collective resources of Britain’s Black communities and our allies to create the change we all want to see. Built on the ethos of a giving circle, BFN organises at least two live crowdfunding events a year, at which three approved organisations nominated, screened and selected by members are invited to present to an audience of potential donors. Following the pitch and a brief Q&A session for each project, the audience is guided through a live pledging session. Donations of money, time, expertise and introductions are welcomed. The entire event is an evening of philanthropic engagement, networking and fun! We are responding to recent surveys that found 9 out of 10 Black and Ethnic-led community organisations are chronically under-funded and many are likely to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Black Funding Network will support racial justice, social mobility, alleviation of economic hardship, education and youth services, health and wellbeing, community development, arts and cultural advancement, history and heritage, and social enterprise. *African, Caribbean and mixed heritage
