Teaching Artists International, Inc.
www.taimusic.orgTeaching Artists International is a 501(c)(3) founded in July of 2018. Our mission is to develop global citizen musicians through artistic cultural exchanges that empower youth and support music education around the world. We want to develop more global citizen artists and empower youth around the world, because we believe that intercultural dialogue, promoting cosmopolitanism, and global citizenry is the path forward to a more democratic and understanding society. Through our unique fellowships, we provide musicians the 21st-century skills in order to develop their cultural intelligence, enhance their teaching capacities, and provide international performance experiences in a variety of contexts. Our international partners are all socially-driven organizations that use music as a vehicle for making a change in their respective communities. Whether that’s an after-school program combating gang violence in Guatemala City or working with marginalized youth in Serbia, music education with the purpose of positive social change is the common thread for all of our partners. Since our inception in July of 2018, we have completed 7 fellowships, which include 28 fellows, 2 faculty, and interacted with approximately 2600 youth ranging in ages 6-25 in Peru, Serbia, Guatemala, Bosnia & Herzegovina, eSwatini, and Croatia. We hope to expand our 2020 efforts to include Haiti and Palestine. We are a proud majority female and LGBTQ- founded and run organization.
