Brighton Soup

What is Brighton Soup? Brighton Soup is a platform for small local projects to pitch for seed-funding in a uniquely social, interactive community setting. A bit like a really friendly Dragon’s Den, where the dragons are a warm and supportive group of local people. How does it work? Tickets for Soup events cost from £5. For that, the audience hears four local projects pitch their ideas. Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea, and then answer questions from the audience. Everyone then has a bowl of delicious soup (donated by our local chefs), chats with each other, listens to our musical entertainment (played for free) and most importantly, votes on the project they like the most. At the end of the night, we count the ballots and the winner goes home with all of the money raised from the door to carry out their project – usually £300-500. Simple. Have you got an idea that would benefit your community? Anyone can apply to Brighton Soup. You just need an idea or project that benefits the people of Brighton & Hove City. You don’t need formal plans, be an organisation or charity. You just need a great idea. Oh, and be willing to stand up in a room full of very friendly people and tell them about it. Don’t worry, we give you training and support you through the process. On the night, if enough people are interested and excited about your project, they will vote for you. The great thing is that even if you don’t win the vote you can still make great connections and get support and help anyway.
