We are a 501-3C non-profit organization. Our mission is to improve the lives of children and adolescents in Maine. We promote the health of Maine's youth by advocating for children's physical, emotional, and social well-being and support pediatricians so they can provide the best of care for children in their offices and in their communities. We lead and engage in education, advocacy, collaboration, legislation, and leadership activities that promote healthy children. The Maine AAP provides educational programs featuring best practices in pediatric care, strategies for patient engagement, and improving pediatric medical care and we collaborate with other organizations serving Maine children to deliver a unified voice with superior programs and outreach. We work to educate patients and families and encourage transparency, communication, and shared decision making between families and their health care providers. The Maine AAP assures that legislation involving children’s healthcare issues is supported by verbal and written testimony, using evidenced based research and guidelines from the national AAP.
