Gorkha Development Scheme is a small charity founded in 1988, with the aim of working with the community in Gorkha, Nepal. We work with our sister charity in Gorkha, and have been involved in many projects over the years. Our current focus is to: 1. Develop children’s health awareness through training, and improving sanitation facilities. 2. Sponsor children in school, to ensure they complete their education. 3. Encourage women’s participation in the community. 4. Encourage volunteering experiences in Nepal. 5. Enable medical students to undertake their electives in the local hospital. 6. We also encourage the community to develop proposals for projects which may help the community in some way. Run by a small group of Volunteers in the South East of England, we have several fundraising events a year, and aim to raise as much money as possible, with all money raised going directly to the projects in Nepal.
