The GPMC/NMC is an alliance of International Building Trades Unions that negotiates and administers labour agreements tailored for maintenance work at industrial plants in Canada. The agreements make it possible for industry to employ up to 13 different construction trades under a single set of terms and conditions. The alliance works in cooperation with contractors and project owners. Its agreements deliver the skilled workers that industry needs for critical maintenance projects, while ensuring stable labour relations with a co-operative, streamlined grievance process and no work stoppages. The system provides a stable, long-term maintenance solution for industry and a reliable source of secure employment for unionized construction tradespeople. The GPMC/NMC has been delivering good value to Canada for over 60 years. Its agreements meet the needs of major resource and industrial facilities in key economic sectors, employ more than 14,000 skilled tradespeople in 8 out 10 Canadian provinces, and contribute more than $1.1 billion to the economy each year.
