Sexual Trauma And Recovery Services (STARS Dorset)
www.starsdorset.orgSTARS Dorset provides practical and emotional support for survivors of sexual violence. We work with men, women, children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, rape and childhood abuse at any time in their lives. Our services include face to face counselling, helpline listening support, ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) Service and specialist children and young people services. We are a relatively small team but we believe passionately that survivors deserve quality services to help them rebuild and thrive. As part of our mission to improve outcomes for survivors we also run community engagement projects at festivals and local events, as well as, working with local schools and universities. We believe education is key in challenging victim blaming culture and increasing conviction rates. We also provide training for professionals who may come into contact with survivors. We want survivors of sexual violence to know that we believe them, we stand with them and we are willing to support them whether they are reporting to the police, seeking information or therapeutic healing.
