Securing the UK's energy future Description Halite Energy is proposing to build an underground gas storage facility in newly-created salt caverns on the Wyre Peninsula at Preesall, Lancashire. This project will increase the UK’s gas storage capacity by 20 per cent, building energy security and resilience and supporting the development of new wind and gas generating capacity. In particular it will help protect consumers from steep energy price rises resulting from gas shortages during the winter months.
