CeraByte is a novel technology that heralds a new paradigm for data storage in data centers. The majority (70%) of data stored in data centers is „cold" : Data, which are rarely or never accessed but nevertheless stored for decades on permanently spinning HDDs thus continuously consuming energy and also resources due to regularly required replacement. CeraByte is a rapidly accessible long term storage technology with unlimited lifetime even under extreme conditions. Data storage on CeraByte consumes no energy and is therefore much more cost efficient and climate friendly compared to conventional storage devices. CeraByte technology will be deployed in data centers by 2025.
