So, some bright spark tells us we are getting a new system! And they say it will create a new approach to the way we all work now, oh yes, I forgot, and it will be better and mean we can pretty much get rid of Outlook and unproductive meetings! Not only is it better but it helps save your time increasing effectiveness, efficiency and productivity. We all have clarity about each task we are assigned by people in our team and from other teams. We’ve all heard this before, and it often just leads to us having to do more stuff, more admin, and will lead to more mistakes. People often leave when a new approach to work or system is introduced. We then become negative about the system, the talk around the coffee machine turns to how bad the new system is. We naturally drift back to the way we used to work before, especially when the system does not fulfil our needs or appears like a waste of time. People will not adopt a system fully that doesn’t work. These other systems are almost never finished, and software companies are often consistently getting the wrong brief from the customer, Yes, our bosses! Guess what? They don’t really know what you and I do. Why? Because they don’t do our job. Or anyone else’s - they have a big picture overview and don’t need the detail. Unfortunately, all a computer system does is detail. A single character wrong in a million characters can stop a computer from running. Asana is not a new system imagine a new shiny version of outlook that does a whole lot more and is a useful tool. It’s there to make your life easier while ensuring that everyone has clarity about what they have to do, when and how they have to do it, it means you won’t forget something because it’s there to help and repeatable tasks can be automated, to use it on a day to day basis you are just checking off tasks as you do them. The team person that set the task gets notified, you don’t have to tell them it's done, they know when you "click the tick".
