Positive Impact New York, Inc.
www.positiveimpactny.orgThe mission of Positive Impact New York (P.I.N.Y) is to develop tomorrow’s leaders by preparing them academically, athletically and socially for life in high school, college and beyond. P.I.N.Y was created as a response to the lack of social opportunities, academic achievement and the healthy human development of talented young students within the state of New York. With the belief that learning can occur anywhere, P.I.N.Y provides young students with a combination of academic support services and positive youth sports experiences that help them gain access to high-quality educational opportunities and develop the skills they need to be successful in high school, college and beyond. Positive Impact New York, Inc. was founded by Terrell Dozier, a former All New York State basketball player, youth coach and role model to many youth. Terrell is currently an aide at Riverhead Charter School in Riverhead, NY. Terrell received his B.S. in Sports Management from Colby-Sawyer College. He has been working with youth for thirteen years. Terrell developed the program with the invaluable assistance of friends and family. The staff consists of one volunteer Executive Director. Positive Impact New York is committed to serving youth from various demographic backgrounds. We target children from ages 5-14 in the state of New York. Because of the glaring inequities and scarce opportunities available to students in various areas, many youth haven’t developed the skills and competencies necessary to achieve and pursue goals past high school. The circumstance is further exacerbated for younger children from these communities who grew up in an environment that often undermines their academic, emotional and personal development as well as limiting their exposure to possibilities beyond sports.
