Raise awareness about elderly Financial abuse in the U.S. and actively pursue legislation to make penalties tougher for caregivers and family convicted of financial abuse against the elderly. Actively assist families with resources and education to fight financial elder abuse, conduct seminars to educate families what to look for and how to fight the abuse. Work with Law Enforcement, Bankers & Attorneys to look for signs of abuse and report it as well as establish a US clearing house to gather data of abuse to better be able to track and combat it. All of this has come out of a 3 year legal battle with a family member whom stole over $700,000 from my Father-In-law and as most cases go the attorneys and police did not believe us until we started presenting evidence. This family member as most wanted us to just let it go, as they were family. Most families do not report elderly abuse for this reason, this is nonsense, do what is right, protect the elderly and their wishes, be there for them, stand up and fight! We always had to say Marion we are working on it, unfortunately Marion never saw his money returned before passing and we are still working on it 2 years and 9 months later although we are close to getting back some of the money, but this took almost 3 years and lots of attorneys and mountains of evidence, the system is definitely frustrating.
