Founded in 2014, it operates today around 3,000 m² of the Cureghem Cellars, in Brussels city center. Making it the biggest underground farm in Belgium. The innovation? Using circularity to produce exotic mushrooms ! The company recycles the spent grains from the Brewery Cantillon, an organic beer production and old organic bread from Colruyt group, a major Belgian retailer. It also combines a production of microgreens and baby herbs on the same site with a high-tech vertical farm. Per month, it produces around 6 tons of fresh mushrooms, 32 tons of mushrooms substrates and 20,000 units of microgreens and baby herbs. Eclo works with the main players in organic distribution in Belgium, more than 300 organic stores and 160 local restaurants. The company employs 12 people. The company offers regular visits to its production areas to introduce individuals and companies to the cultivation of mushrooms and microgreens. In 2022, it announces a 4,7M€ Serie A fundraising to build its next generation facility to produce circular & organic mushroom substrates.
