Carbon Collect’s MechanicalTree™ is the most radical and significant breakthrough in carbon capture globally. It is scalable (gigaton capable) and energy efficient - two key limitations of other approaches to Direct Air Capture. The MechanicalTree™ can be deployed for capture of current and historical emissions for permanent removal via sequestration. Installed onsite, the MechanicalTree™ can also provide a source of green CO2 for a range of uses in industry, construction and agriculture, replacing CO2 manufactured from fossil fuels, and eliminating transport and logistics. Carbon Collect was formed in partnership with Arizona State University in the United States. The company’s technology is based on the latest innovations of Dr Klaus Lackner and his team at the Center for Negative Carbon Emissions at ASU. MechanicalTrees™ are a thousand times more efficient than natural trees at removing CO2 from the air. Assuming a (conservative) lifetime of 15 years, each MechanicalTrees™ will capture over 500 tons of CO2.
