NorStar Corporation (NSC), an American company incorporated in the State of Illinois. NSC was established in 2002 as a technology consultancy company. At the time the company’s marketed core competencies included telephony and telecommunication technologies, hardware and software development, information technology, and design for manufacturability. In 2005 NSC became a product development and manufacturing company focused on innovations and value adding technical solutions. In 2009 NSC released the "Smart Harvester" (European patent no. 1 727 417). In addition to harvesting and grading with a single operation, the Smart Sizer provided total crop data management. In 2010, together with the German company Inventtech GmbH and the Dutch company Horticoop B.V. NSC filed international patent applications (PCT/EP2010/006626 and PCT/EP2014/000326) for the "Potato Incubator". A revolutionary technology developed to address global market’s growing demand for cleaner potato seed. Typically, the production of potato seed starts with a "plantlet" produced from tissue culture. The production of plantlet from tissue culture is a practice intended to produce true clone of a plant’s variety. This is the only process known to scientists today that guarantees producing plant’s true clones. A plantlet plated in the old conventional methods typically produced 2-3 clean tubers. Whereas with the recent deployment of NSC's High-Pressure Aeroponic irrigation system in the Potato Incubator in 2018, Vital Seeds, Inc., NSC's affiliated company, started producing in excess of 3,000 tubers per plantlet. 1000 Times increase in per-plat yield that is enabling Vital Seeds, Inc. to reduce the propagation cycle of potato seed from 9 field generations to 2 or less. In addition to the Potato Incubator, High-Pressure and Standard-Pressure Aeroponics, NSC has developed number of unique solutions addressing modern farming trends in Hydroponics, Aquaponics, and Vertical and Urban Farming.
