It all began in Como, in Northern Italy, where Filippo Mambretti founded a fabrics company under his name in 1920. Its reputation spread quickly and some years later, his son, Peppo Mambretti, together with Crisanthi Papamichail, realised their dream of expanding into Greece by founding the CRIPE (CRIsanthi-PEppo) company in Thessaloniki. Over time, CRIPE expanded from dealing solely in Filippo Mambretti Spa fabrics and special orders to include an impressive range of textiles from well known, top-quality international manufacturers. The luxury fabrics of Zimmer+Rohde (Z+R) from Germany, the classic designs of Ardecora from Italy, the sophisticated French company Etamine, the striking creations of Britain’s Timney Fowler and Hodsoll McKenzie, cutting-edge Dedar and the exquisite cloths of Brochier from Italy, Luigi Bevilacqua who weaves on traditional Venetian looms and opulent creations by Art&Decor in silk and velvet are all exclusively represented in Greece by CRIPE.
