CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT
www.cmd.gov.ngThe Centre for Management Development (CMD) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria as the operational arm of the Nigerian Council for Management Development. The Centre commenced operations in 1973, albeit it only derived its legal backing by Act No 51 of 1976. The Centre which is under the supervision of Ministry of Budget and National Planning, is actively involved in the regulation of standards; development of managerial manpower for the country and a broad range of skills to enhance the quality of management and leadership for the attainment of national economic goals. The Centre has also been actively involved in building structures for the enhancement of professional standards, effective management of Nigerian enterprises and attainment of the nation’s development goals. The Centre operates from its Head Office in Lagos and four area offices – Abuja, Owerri, Kano, Ibadan, Gombe and Uyo. The spread of our operations empowers us to reach out to the different parts of the country, while plans are underway to open two new area offices at Maduguri for the purpose of having representation in each of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Approval has been granted to open training centers at Sokoto and Ibadan. As part of its institution building role, the Centre has facilitated the establishment of a number of professional associations with a view to raising the standards CORE MANDATES 1.
