Cucuyo is a summer arts program that brings American and Dominican teens together in the Dominican Republic to interact and explore each other's cultures through a collaborative arts experience. In June 2010, Cucuyo had its first program, serving 80+ disadvantaged youths in two communities in Bonao, Dominican Republic. Four visiting teachers and one executive director/interpreter taught daily workshops in photography, theater, sculpture, and creative writing for two weeks. We took pictures, made sculptures, wrote stories, put on plays, and had a ball! Cucuyo is looking for teachers and American teens for our 2011 program!
