Birmingham Boys Choir

Since its incorporation in 1973, this non-profit, civic organization has sought to provide intensive musical training for young men, ages 7-18. Through our system they are encouraged to more fully develop musical gifts within a group context and individually. While these young men are trained in music theory and technique, they also learn self-control, discipline, professionalism, and the art of teamwork. These skills and life lessons benefit these youth throughout their lives, encouraging them to strive for excellence in all they do, and foster their future as leaders of our community. With active involvement from parents, the BBC adds a cultural dimension that continually astounds audiences at home and abroad. We strongly assert that The BBC is more than music, it is training for life. Our 39th year remains under the direction of Samford University Alumni, Ken and Susan Berg. In addition to our three satellite locations, the BBC has embarked upon a Collaborative Concert Series featuring the BBC in conjunction with other artists. This will broaden the cultural experience of our choristers and indeed, our community. Boys in need of direction, positive role models and self -confidence have benefited from the choir. There are many cases of single parent or boys whose guardians strongly appreciate the role the BBC plays in their chorister’s lives. Through our public performances (some free) we bring a unique musical experience to local, national and even international audiences at an excellent level of choral performance. Indeed, the high performance quality of the Birmingham Boys Choir makes these young men excellent cultural ambassadors for our City. We have been endorsed by the Mayor’s office. Because nothing speaks for our boys so well as their collective voices, we invite you to visit our website at birminghamboyschoir.com to experience a vocal performance first-hand.
