The mission of Special Gifts Theatre is to foster self-confidence, social, speech and language skills in individuals with disabilities, using educational and therapeutic techniques with the stage as the platform, integrating creativity and fun. Special Gifts Theatre offers 12 programs in 7 locations in the north and northwest suburbs and northwest side of the City of Chicago for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 7 through adult and typically developing peer mentors. Special Gifts Theatre employs a multi-disciplinary team of occupational, physical, speech/ language, and dance/movement therapists; special education and general education teachers, as well as theatre arts professionals.
