Classroom grants for innovative technology and additional learning tools to keep students engaged 2. Professional development grants allowing teaching staff to attend workshops and seminars to keep our educators inspired and up-to-date 3. Scholarships for our graduating seniors Our Mission Statement: "Empower all Waukee District Students to achieve their aspirations by enhancing their educational experience" Q – What are classroom grants for and whom does the Foundation approve grants? A – The Foundation approves classroom grants for all classrooms in all schools, K-12. Grants can be submitted at any time by the teaching staff and are reviewed by our grants committee prior to each board meeting. These grants include and are not limited to classrooms, specials, ELP, ELL, and SPED. We support all K-12 teachers. Some examples of grants that we have approved are robotic kits, STEM kits, Contra Bass bars for music, literacy kits, 3D printers, Makey Makey kits, and funding for a permanent school mural. Q – What are professional development grants? A – Each year the Foundation approves a professional development grant for the Waukee Community School District. This grant is distributed throughout each building on a per-student ratio. The money goes to workshops and seminars where the district may be short of funds to fully support. Q – Scholarships? What has changed and who is eligible? A – The Waukee Schools Foundation has pledged a minimum of $25,000 per year for our senior scholarships. We select students who have made a positive impact on their family, school, or community. This scholarship is not GPA based and is open to anyone that has post-secondary plans; including college, technical school, military, and entrepreneurship.
