THE SYNERGY HEALTH CENTER provides mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment services for all ages from infants to mature adulthood. Our mission is to change lives through culturally sensitive counseling, recovery and wellness services. GFM The Synergy Center (GFMSC) is housed alongside The UrbanZone, found strategically located near downtown, and the East and North sides of Kalamazoo. For more than 14 years, GFMSC has been a place for healing and restoration, helping individuals and families regain hope and dreams for their future. The Synergy Center was begun because Executive Director Valarie Cunningham saw a gap in services being provided in a culturally sensitive manner to minorities and people of color. The original vision of the organization was to be a one stop source for individuals, or couples and families, needing counseling or substance abuse treatment, housing, jobs and parental support. Fourteen years later, the vision is continuing to unfold. The board, staff and clinical team have focused on ensuring that relevant services are easily accessible to the community it serves. GFMSC has been intentional about responding to the growing and changing needs of the times, providing services ranging from infants to mature adulthood and hosted the first African American Mental Health Symposium in 2019 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. All staff at GFM The Synergy Center are dedicated to bringing satisfying relief to people who are in emotional, mental, and spiritual pain. Licensed, caring staff offer excellent care by providing best practices in counseling, recovery and wellness services. We are confident that you will receive excellent care.
