The CPPA is responsible for the implementation and administrative enforcement of the nation’s first comprehensive consumer privacy law, the California Consumer Privacy Act, including as amended by Proposition 24, the California Privacy Rights Act; for promoting public awareness and understanding of the risks, responsibilities, and rights in relation to the collection, use, and disclosure of Californians’ personal information, and for providing guidance to consumers and businesses on complex matters relating to online privacy, cybersecurity, and automated decision-making, among other duties.
