The Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton was established on 29th December 1882. The Diocese covers an area of 414,400 sq km; and, under the leadership of Bishop Michael McCarthy, serves the people of Central Queensland through pastoral, education, social welfare and administrative support in numerous ministry settings. The vision of the Church throughout Central Queensland sees their Diocese as a community of believers living out the call of baptism, through personal faith in Jesus, witnessing together to the Good News of the Kingdom.
