Breakthrough ACTION and Breakthrough RESEARCH are USAID’s flagship programs for social and behavior change (SBC). Breakthrough ACTION ignites collective action and encourages people to adopt healthier behaviors—from using modern contraceptive methods and sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV—by forging, testing, and scaling up new and hybrid approaches to SBC. Breakthrough RESEARCH catalyzes SBC by conducting state-of-the-art research and evaluation and promoting evidence-based solutions to improve health and development programs around the world. Together, Breakthrough ACTION and Breakthrough RESEARCH are improving healthy behaviors and norms around the world.
