The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is the State government agency responsible for protecting RI's environment. The Bureau of Environmental Protection is composed of the department’s environmental regulatory and assistance programs; including the Offices of Water Resources, Customer and Technical Assistance, Air Resources, Compliance and Inspection, Waste Management and the Emergency Response Program. The objectives of this bureau are to ensure that the quality of Rhode Island's air, water, and land resources are restored and maintained to protect public health and to ensure that the state's environmental resources retain their ecological integrity. The Bureau is committed to providing excellent customer service by providing timely and consistent outcomes, ensuring that decisions that are transparent and predictable, seeking innovative and cost-effective solutions to environmental challenges, and communicating what we do, what is required of the people that interact with us, process flow and response timelines, and explaining what will happen and when it will happen in environmental regulatory processes.
