HiiL Innovation Hub, West Africa
www.hiil.orgThe HiiL Justice Needs and Satisfaction Report in Nigeria released in 2018 shows that the most common consequences of legal disputes by people who experience them in Nigeria were loss of time and income. In the Justice Needs and Satisfaction Report released in Mali, 2018, as well, loss of time and money were also identified as the most common consequences of legal disputes. Other consequences identified in both countries include ill-health, damaged relationships, violence, loss of jobs, personal injuries and humiliation. At HiiL West Africa, we seek to reduce the incidences of these consequences by making justice user friendly and accessible to West Africans. We do this through research, data and innovation. Through the HiiL Justice Accelerator, we scout for, train and scale a global cohort of justice startups each year. The Accelerator focuses on startups that have a sustainable business model and impact strategy that can scale across a country or internationally to prevent or resolve justice issues.
