Pi Tau Sigma - Beta Chapter
engineering.purdue.eduThe mission statement of the national Pi Tau Sigma society is as follows: "The object of this organization shall be to foster the high ideals of the engineering profession, to stimulate interest in and coordinate departmental activities, to promote the mutual professional welfare of its members, and to develop in students of mechanical engineering the attributes necessary for effective leadership and the assumption of the responsibilities of a citizen in a democracy." Purdue University's Beta chapter of the national Pi Tau Sigma Organization is a student-lead organization that strives to fulfill the above mission statement, as well as incorporate the organization's core values: Integrity (soundness of character and moral conduct), Service (serving the mechanical engineering profession and the community), and Leadership (being foremost and fostering initiative through example in a professional manner). The organization embodies these values by attempting to benefit the West Lafayette community with service and by working with Purdue's Mechanical Engineering Department to improve the well-being of students and faculty. Pi Tau Sigma at Purdue offers tutoring sessions to students taking Mechanical Engineering courses, provides materials needed for some courses, and even maintains a lounge within the ME building at Purdue.
