DATEAGLE ART is a London-based contemporary art platform highlighting emerging artists and under-represented sectors. Founded in 2017 by curatorial duo Martin Mayorga and Vanessa Murrell; the pair have established a diverse, creative community through their intimate approach to connecting with artists. Nurturing creativity online through interviews, journals and studio visits; and offline through commissions, exhibitions, educational initiatives and public programming, the platform engages in an extensive discourse with current concerns, observed through the lens of the artists they work with. By seeking accessibility, diversity and transparency, the content is ad-free and equally-gendered. Renouncing fixed categories, the platform champions a varied range of artists, working in mediums spanning painting, photography, performance, sculpture, everything in-between, and that which is less easily categorised. Embracing a shared space, DATEAGLE ART is shaped by a critical dialogue of innovative ideas. The platform facilitates collaborative perspectives by inviting artists, curators and writers to contribute, many of whom have previously not received such opportunities to share their voice. Using analogue photography as the sole means of documentation, a narrative of slowing-down is embraced, challenging the increasingly instantaneous nature of the digital realm. The resulting images demonstrate how they perform weekly studio visits and personally meet every artist they feature; the texture of the film dissects the polished and hyper-curated approach of mainstream platforms.
