La Rocca Memorial Society is a volunteer organization aimed at recognizing and inspiring the altruistic contributions of Vaughan youth through the Bursary Program, outreach events, and ongoing community involvement. The Board of Directors endeavor to lead by example in order to encourage young people to become change-makers. Established in 2002, La Rocca Memorial Society is a non-profit organization managed by a volunteer board of directors dedicated to improving the lives of those around us. The board is comprised of past bursary recipients who have pursued careers in a variety of disciplines and remain committed to community enrichment. We strive to recognize the outstanding altruistic contributions of youth and work to inspire volunteerism while giving back in a variety of ways. The cornerstone of our organization remains the La Rocca Bursary Program. We have adopted a park (La Rocca Square) in the City of Vaughan where a statue was erected to commemorate our namesake, Alberto La Rocca. This park serves as the venue for several community events including our annual park clean-up, summer picnic, and the Carabinieri wreath-laying ceremony. Further, our alumni initiatives allow us to provide mentorship and networking opportunities to bursary recipients each year. Finally, we seek to empower other community groups and collaborate with them so that we may work together towards our common goal of paying it forward.
