BACDS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which preserves and promotes traditional community dance forms (English country dance, American contra dance, morris and longsword dance) in the San Francisco Bay Area. BACDS runs about 17 dances a month, three weeklong residential summer dance camps, two residential weekend camps and a non-residential weekend camp, and an assortment of special events, workshops, etc. Although teachers, musicians, and sound techs are generally paid, the organization itself is run by volunteers.
