Bariatric Science is an empirical science that embodies the research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of obesities and its related biopsychosocial disorders. The goal of the Bariatric Science Certification Program is to provide specialized bariatric science education and training for already licensed/registered/certified health and education professionals from diverse disciplines. Mental health practitioners, medical doctors, physician assistants, nurses, public health educators, registered dietitians, nutritionists, teachers and other allied professionals are eligible candidates for certification and credentialing.
