The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri teaches students about and conducts research on human communication processes and effects in interpersonal, mediated, and public forms and in a variety of contexts (e.g., crisis, health, organizational, political). The department utilizes a largely social science approach to the study of communication emphasizing the quantitative and qualitative study of six areas: Interpersonal and Family Communication; Mediated Communication; Organizational Communication; Political Communication; Diversity, Identity, and Communication: and Health and Crisis Communication.
